If all we see, is what we see, then we do not see all there is to be seen. In this world, appearances can be deceiving. We live a life where it’s essential to seek the guidance of the God who sees beyond what even we can. The Prophet Samuel was tasked with anointing Israel’s future king. But when he first laid eyes on Jesse’s eldest son, he was captivated by his outward appearance. However, God told Samuel that “man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart”. Our perceptions can sometimes lead us astray, and only by trusting God’s guidance can we find the truth that we are seeking.
